incorporate post cardiac rehabilitation into my health, fitness and lifestyle that my website was originally created for based on how I lost 55 lbs and kept the weight off. Now the site will include what I’ve done through health, nutrition and exercise to rebound back from:
1.) Pulmonary Embolism
2.) Ascending Aortic Aneurysm
3.) Stage Four Congestive Heart Failure (with a 15% ejection fraction, normal persons is 55%)
4.) Failed Aortic Valve
5.) Surgery at Duke (Goldsboro said surgery wasn’t an option, this was as good as it got, meaning me on meds and bedridden) (Wake Heart did all the tests but simply was not capable as they did not have the equipment I would have needed in surgery). Therefore the transplant doctor at Duke performed my surgery August 7, 2007. He replaced my aortic valve, he placed a dacron sleeve in the ascending aortic arch to protect from the aneurysm. He removed part of the aortic arch up to the first carotid artery. I suffered from one of the 10% risks of surgery, my heart went into total heart block that necessitated me being implanted with my “cellphone” (at least that’s what it feels like in my shoulder) a Pacemaker/Defibrillator. Then in February ‘08 it was confirmed that I had indeed suffered a mild heart attack during surgery as there was minimal scarring on the top of the heart muscle. I couldn’t believe they did not know this at the time but am actually glad I did not find out for six months. I really don’t think I could have handled anymore bad news…. at least until July of ‘08 when I found out that I was actually dead for four hours while they froze my body and removed my heart FROM my body to work on it. I think that’s why I have some issues with short term memory issues and concentration. OOOOOH look at the pretty flowers! :) Then in December of ‘08 I found out that one of the leads to my pacemaker is on the Medtronic Lead Recall. Oh Yeah! I found this out when I received a letter from Duke they needed to do a software upgrade to my chest if the lead fails it will beep and let me know when to “say it then do it!” I share this not because I want you to throw me some cheese to go with my whine. I share this because I am ALIVE and until such time as the good Lord wants me home I am going to rejoice and be exceedingly glad and share with you that no obstacle is gonna get me down. There is no earthly reason for me to have survived, I feel, other then to share my story from Fat to Fit to Failing to Fabulous. So important to me along with my faith is the benefit of mastering Dr. Phil’s Key One in The Ultimate Weight Solution “Right Thinking”. Had it not been for key one I would have given up June 1, 2007.
My goal since the Dr. Phil Challenge was to get certified as a personal trainer. I worked on the experience through the Sheriff’s weight loss challenge and friends both in Goldsboro and through my website. That fell to the wayside since I got sick ONLY because my passion has steered more towards the natural and holistic nutrition as that has been more fine tuned then my exercise at this point. I created “The Heart of the Wildcat” after several local ladies participated in creating the Humane Society’s Petals and Paws Calendar based on the Calendar Girls movie. Vanessa Woodlock took my warped mind and surpassed even my wildest dream of what I wanted my poster to be.
I am selling my poster (attached) for $10 with $2.50 from the sale of each poster going to the Goldsboro Humane Society specifically to go towards the building of the much needed animal adoption and education center. Since I don’t have kids my pets are my babies. I only wish I could have every single animal in the shelter but since that is not a possibility I want to do as much as I can to help raise the funds to give the animals hopefully time they would need to find a new home and not just go to a building to be put down.
I hope you think about it and if you look at the poster attached remember to cover one eye lest ye go blind!
Click the PayPal button to purchase this poster for only $10.00. $2.50 of each purchase will be donated to the Goldsboro Humane Society towards the continual development of the Wayne County Animal Shelter plus $4.95 USPS priority shipping for a total of $14.95.
